Senior experience
The Senior Experience is a high school capstone experience that requires students to demonstrate not only what they know, but what they can do. States, school districts, and high schools focusing on restructuring, raising high school standards, and actively engaging Seniors in a challenging and relevant educational process incorporate the Senior Experience.
The Senior Experience consists of four phases. The first phase includes the preparation of a research paper by each student. The second phase includes the creation of a product that is an appropriate and logical extension of the research paper. The third phase is the portfolio which includes specific writings throughout the experience period. The fourth phase is a presentation before a Senior Experience panel with an eight-to-ten-minute formal speech on the paper, the project, and personal growth.
Throughout this process, students will benefit greatly from the expertise of a carefully selected experience mentor and faculty adviser. They will serve as resources to the student during all phases of the Senior Experience.
